Evaluations:

The first step in the evaluation process is discussing your concerns with your child's pediatrician. Your child's pediatrician is an integral part to the success of your child's evaluation and treatment.

Next, contact our office at 1-888-941-4434 to set up an appointment time. EVERY EFFORT WILL BE MADE TO SCHEDULE THE APPOINTMENT WITHIN ONE WEEK. Typically, the evaluation lasts for 1-1 ½ hours. Once the evaluation is booked, a packet of information is mailed to you. The packet includes a confirmation letter, case history questionnaire and a copy of the office policies.

On the day of your child's evaluation both standardized and informal testing will be conducted to assess the child's articulation, expressive language skills, receptive language skills, vocal quality, and fluency. Other specific concerns such as dysphagia, auditory processing, and pragmatic skills can be addressed if the child presents with these concerns.

At the conclusion of the evaluation, the speech-language pathologist will summarize the findings and provide recommendations based upon the results of the evaluation. Parents are encouraged to ask questions and discuss treatment options.

Therapy:

If therapy is recommended, a program will be constructed to meet the INDIVIDUAL needs of the child. A typical speech-language program is scheduled 2-3 times per week for ½ hour sessions. Your child will work 1:1 with a licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist. Home programming is a vital part of your child's progress. For this reason, your child will be given homework specific to his/her program.

It is important to note that the duration of the treatment program varies child-to-child. Modifications to the original plan of treatment will be made as needed to expedite your child's progress. Crossroads Speech and Hearing, Inc. specializes in providing functional activities in a natural environment.
